Two in the works. A really big one (for me) made
from a piece of cheap styrofoam packing material and a
smaller one out of cardboard.
The small one is for William Henry
Pratt. Classic horror movie buffs should know who that
is. If not, follow the * to the bottom of the page. |

This one may get ornate or not,
depending on how well my ideas work. It is 19" x 28"
Since the styrofoam is
thin and the kind that turns into little pills, I'll be
using papier mache over the whole thing rather than try
to carve it. Here you see it with a couple of coat
hangers bent then taped on. The one on top is for
stability and on the bottom for stakes to go into the
ground. A second piece of styro is taped to the bottom
for some stability.It's
also taped to a board to try to keep a bent area as
straight as possible. Some mache has been laid on to
seal the seams between the two pieces and to hold the
coat hanger down. |

Drying out on the porch. The two
boards under the plant are holding down an area of the
styrofoam that is warped. Once the mache dries, it
should hold them together and the gap filled in. But I
wanna start the front! (whine) |
 |
Note: the Pratt tombstone is heavier
than I thought so there's probably no
way the coat hangers are going to
hold it up. This means there is absolutely no
possibility of the larger stone
holding up. So I'm looking into a way to attach
some camping type stakes to them. |

The large stone has been dedicated
to John Sidney Blyth. Letters are rough now but that
will change. I hope. |

Filled in the letters with some pulp
that has been dyed black. It's not even close to being
blue, but that's how the pic came out. |
