Log, about 3/4" across x
3" long. sheet of clay to wrap it with. this will be a lace cane for flower center
Log wrapped
Reduce. squeeze just below the ends with fingers and thumbs til it looks like this
Squeeze in middle with whole hand.continue doing this until the center is the same size as the ends. then roll gently to smooth it out
Now it is soft enough to do some pulling and stretching and rolling.gently....until it is 14" long after you cut the ends off
Cut into 7 pieces
2" long.
Combine so it looks like this. one in the center. 6 around the center one
Gently squeeze until the air pockets are gone. then roll until its smooth.
Cut two triangles. each double thickness on #1 (thickest setting) butt together off setting just a bit. cut off the offset edges.
Butt together... then
run through pm on #1 setting...having both colors on the roller...this is important...both colors must touch the rollers.
Fold in half...dark side to dark side and light side to light side....
Flatten folded edge
with roller.
Keep doing last step about 20 times...if it looks like this..not to worry, it will go away.
I like to leave my skinner blends so the look like this. about 10 or 12 times the pm.
Fold one more time....run through pm on #1 starting with
the light color touching rollers on pm.
This is what it looks like but it is to wide. so fold it in half length ways...see next pic.
Now run through pm on #1 again...then #3 and #4. this will be very thin and will stick together. have a place ready for a very long strip of clay.
Even off light end. make a small snake and put it on the light end of the strip. makes it easier and neater to roll it up.
It is not written in stone that u have to have the light color on the edge....this is start of the roll.
Rolled up.
Slice both sides of this "plug".
Sheet of clay on #5.
Cut down the middle
of the plug.
Make two more cuts. one on each side at an angle getting close to the center cut.
Lay each piece on the sheet you made a few minutes ago and cut to size.
